Hot Springs, North Carolina: A Mountain Destination of Romance & Beauty

Only three winding mountain roads lead into Hot Springs.  All of them are two lanes, mountainous, and intimate.  No matter what road you take, somewhere on your drive to Hot springs you will cross an undesignated and invisible line where you enter "mountain time."  Mountain Time invites you to slow down, breathe the fresh mountain air, and hold the hand of the one you love as you wrap through the Blue Ridge.  Arriving in the high mountain valley town of Hot Springs you will see beauty and romance everywhere you look.  No matter what your personality or style, there is a weekend of romance and bliss awaiting you in Hot Springs.

Romancing the Wild
Like an interesting stranger you meet on the train Hot Springs has many romantic facets that appeal to the senses and the imagination.  If you are an out-door type who loves adventure this is the perfect mountain town in which to come for the weekend and romance wildly.

If your idea of romantic bliss is getting away from it all and out into nature as far as you possibly can (while still accessing amenities you need) then check out one of our camping destinations that have camp sites nestled along both French Broad River and Spring Creek.  Modest cabins and chalets are also available along these waters, all within walking distance to everything in town.

After you spend the day fishing along the Big Laurel or French Broad and return to camp stop by one of our local stores where you can find a wide variety of camping and hiking foods easy to prepare when you return to camp and cook the day's catch.  Enjoy the evening around your campfire listening to Spring Creek or the French Broad River rush by.

Your weekend of romancing the wild wouldn't be complete without spending an invigorating day on the back of a horse, rafting the French Broad River, or hiking part of The Appalachian Trail.  If you are really adventurous then come for a long weekend and do it all, that way you'll leave with no regrets.

Lover's Leap
Every person-- and every couple-- is unique in how they define romantic bliss.  Sleeping on the ground in a tent for two or three nights isn't for everyone.  In which case you might prefer taking the "lover's leap" and going a bit more upscale.

Hot Springs has an abundance of cabin rentals with unique amenities that give you the experience of having your own private get-a-way in the mountains.  Whatever your preferred amenities in a cabin, Hot Springs has one available to rent.  If you prefer a touch of old-world romance then stay at one of our historic inns.

The next day pack a picnic in a backpack and take a hike along the Appalachian Trail up to Lovers Leap which overlooks the French Broad River and the entire Hot Springs valley.  Spread a blanket, peel an apple and slice some cheese while you sip a glass of Chardonnay or iced tea and contemplate whether the rest of the world even exists.

Weddings Along the Yellow Brick Road in Hot Springs, NC

For those who have always dreamed of a quaint small town wedding in an old stone church, Hot Springs is pleased to be able to make that wish come true.  If your vision is more along the lines of a Victorian garden wedding, Hot Springs can accommodate that as well.  For larger weddings that require more space there is always the magical lure of an open air white tent wedding on a sprawling field along the French Broad River.

No matter where you hold your wedding in Hot Springs, accommodations for overnight guests, rehearsal dinners, and more casual receptions are all available at multiple locations throughout town and the surrounding area.

Hot Springs, NC Wedding Tips

Toasting the Bride:  Gather the girls together and stroll downtown to ArtiSun Gallery where you can toast the Bride at the Mountain Vino Wine Bar with a glass of champagne, locally made Scuppernong wine, or anything else you might choose.  Then stroll through the gallery each picking out a keepsake gift (made my local artisans) for the Bride to remember her treasured day.

A His and Her Day at the Spa:  Indulge yourselves with a "his and her" day at the Hot Springs Spa where they will pamper, spoil, and relax you with the magical and healing powers of our hot mineral springs and amenities.

A Bonfire with the Guys:  Pile up the logs, strike the match, turn up the tunes, and light up the mountain at Creek Ridge Camping.  While you're at it, invite the ghost of Popcorn Sutton and his little brown jug.  The rest is up to you.

Your Wedding Night:  Linger in the kiss that sealed your vows rather than rush off after the cake is cut (even if someone offers you a limousine).  Stay one more night, or better yet, stay for your entire honeymoon.

Hot Springs Weddings: Off The Beaten Path

Long before weddings became large and formal affairs, there was usually just a couple who were in love and said their simple vows before one or two witnesses in a garden, on a hillside, or along a scenic river somewhere.  If that appeals to your romantic and no-nonsense side, getting married at the top of the world, Max Patch, or at Lover's Leap and then honeymooning in a secluded cabin in Hot Springs would make for an unforgettable and simple event.

If you are the adventurous and out-of-doors type of couple, a creek or riverside wedding and honeymoon spent camping under the stars would create a bonfire and festival out of your love and vow exchange.  Overnight guests would naturally need to bring their own tent and marshmallows.
